Bilingual books help take the stress out of reading in a foreign language. When children do not know a word that they are reading, they can look at the same sentence in their own language to check the meaning. It helps if they read the book in their own language first and then go back and read it in their second language, checking all the time whenever they are unsure of the meaning of a word or phrase.
